Weekend recap
We had an excellent weekend visiting with my grandma. The change of scene was exactly what we all needed to recharge our batteries. My aunt hooked me and my parents up with adjoining hotel rooms. Henry got to stay in my parents' room, and since Holly was in a portable crib, Dave and I each quickly laid claim to one and the other of the two double-sized beds. You know you're secure in your marriage when you can blissfully wave across the aisle at your spouse from the comfort of your own bed and know that they're just as happy as you are. It was luxurious. Dave and I stayed up too late both nights playing Words With Friends, me on my phone, him on Facebook. Also luxurious.
The kids love their great-grandma's house. There's a sunroom to play in, a big yard and stream to go bear-hunting around in, a piano to bang on, and lots of glass knick-knacks they take great delight in stressing their parents out by handling. Best of all, though, is the food, especially the tin of cookies that happen to be right at their level for easy access. We were all sad when Sunday afternoon rolled around and it was time to go.
Fortunately, we left with plans in the works to go back in April. Saying good-bye isn't quite so difficult when there's a "next time" on the horizon.
